Getting started

How do I add someone to my family?

Open the map, raise the members sheet, and tap Add Member. Pick a relationship label if you want one, and the app generates a short code that looks like EXS-BJO.

Share it however you like — the share message includes a link (fam360://join/EXS-BJO) that opens the family preview directly on a phone that has Fam360 installed. One code works for several people, so you do not need a fresh one per person.

The invite code isn't working.

Three things account for almost all of these:

  1. It has expired. Codes are valid for seven days. Generate a new one from Add Member.
  2. The hyphen matters. Enter it as it was given, including the dash.
  3. Sign in first. Opening a join link before signing in will ask you to sign in, then continue to the family.

If none of those is it, send us the code and we will look at it.

Can I be in more than one family?

Yes. You can join more than one — a household and a set of grandparents, say. Worth knowing: while your sharing is on, your position goes to every family you belong to, not just the one you are currently looking at. If you want to be visible to one and not another, leave the one you do not want to share with.

Location and the map

Someone's location is hours out of date.

The map shows when it last heard from each phone, and why it might not have:

  • Location permission is off on their phone. The app says so explicitly on that member rather than showing a stale pin — that is the case worth checking first.
  • Their sharing is set to Off or Emergencies only. Both are legitimate settings they may have chosen.
  • Permission is "While Using the App". Fam360 needs Always to update when the app is closed. On their phone: Settings → Fam360 → Location.
  • The phone is off, out of signal, or in Low Power Mode, which iOS uses to hold back background updates.
How do I stop sharing my location without leaving my family?

Set your sharing mode to Off. You stay in the family, you still see everyone else's alerts and the shared calendar, and your position stops going anywhere. Emergencies only is the middle setting: you are off the day-to-day map, but your location still travels with an SOS you send.

You can also revoke location permission entirely in iOS Settings. That works too, and the app will tell your family that your location is off rather than leaving them looking at an old pin.

Why does Fam360 want background location?

Because a family map that only updates while someone is staring at their phone is not much use at the moment it matters. Without Always, your pin freezes the instant you close the app.

The app does not stream your position continuously. It writes an update when you have actually moved beyond a threshold, which is also why a member sitting still shows the same position for a while without that meaning anything is broken.

Alerts and notifications

I pressed SOS and nobody was notified.

SOS counts down before it sends, so that a pocket press is not an emergency. If you leave the SOS screen while that countdown is running, the countdown stops and no alert is sent. That is the most common cause, and it is the first thing to rule out — including leaving by tapping "Add a member" from inside the sheet.

Otherwise: the phone needs a working connection at the moment you send, and the people you are trying to reach need notifications turned on for Fam360.

Push notifications aren't arriving.
  1. Settings → Notifications → Fam360 — make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. Check whether a Focus mode is filtering them.
  3. Sign out and back in. That re-registers the device's push token, which fixes it if the token went stale.

Still nothing? Email us and say which of those you have tried.

I didn't get told when someone arrived somewhere.

Arrival and departure alerts need three things to be true at once:

  • The place is saved, with the pin actually on the building.
  • An alert exists for that place and that person.
  • That person is sharing their location, with permission set to Always.

A saved place on its own does not raise an alert — the rule is a separate step.

Account and subscription

How do I delete my account?

It is a button inside the app, in your profile settings — you do not have to email us and wait. Deleting removes your account, your profile, and your membership of every family you have joined, so your position stops being readable by any of them.

A subscription bought through the App Store is not cancelled by deleting your account. Cancel it separately in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

How does the subscription work?

Fam360 is subscribed to per family, not per person — one subscription covers everyone in that family. It is billed through your App Store account, so it is managed and cancelled the same way as any other App Store subscription: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

If a purchase went through but the app has not caught up, force-quit and reopen it first. If it is still wrong after that, email us with the date of the purchase.

How do I leave a family?

From your profile. Leaving deletes your membership of that family: you stop seeing their map and they stop seeing your position. The family itself, and anything the rest of it has created, stays.

Where is your privacy policy?

Right here — it lists exactly what is collected, who processes it, and how long it is kept. The short version: your location is visible to families you have joined and to nobody else, and the app carries no advertising or analytics SDK.
